Dear All,
So here we are…in spite of travails, the 3rd DOK Leipzig Lake Festival is set to take off. Mark your calendar: March 27 to 31, 2015 at The Lake Resort, Naukuchiatal, District Nainital, Uttarakhand.
Mahendera Verma, owner of venue, The Lake Resort, as ever stands strongly by our side as an Associate Partner. Goethe Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan and the Embassy of Switzerland continue to be our loyal funding support base. Clearly, but for them, this festival could not have reached here.
Of course, there are so many others who give energy and support in different ways to pursue, endeavour and make it happen.
We are really tempted to bring to your notice what Aruna Vasudev wrote in the Asian Age, after she attended the last edition – when she also gave the keynote address.
“Five days of physical bliss and intellectual challenge…All the films were thought-provoking and cinematically outstanding…” We know there are few (if any) platforms in India, where the same can be said about a purely documentary festival.
The best we can do is assure you that the curation is once again superb. A set of 15 great long and short films. Have a look at the synopses here.
We remain niche in our way - non-competitive, non-agenda driven, with no parallel events to stress you out. We have Special Space, where you can screen a film you wish to share – yours or of someone else you admire. We have the Film-maker Evenings and the Doc Debate around a bonfire. It doesn’t get better. Films. Film-makers, Screenings, Debate & Discourse…and You.
The location remains the same sylvan Himalayan surroundings. Talk to someone who has been here for the festival and feel the rapture they experienced. You could get a bit of the ambience of the previous editions at the following links:
