Info-sharing Pre-Event

Goethe Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan is happy to hold an info-sharing pre-event about the DOK Leipzig Lake Festival. This will be on March 26 at 10 am at Max Mueller Bhavan, 3, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi. We will screen trailers, share our thoughts, be available for Q&A. A representative of our associate, The Lake Resort, will also be present to answer any queries about travel and stay.

Inauguration

We are honoured to announce that the DOK Leipzig Lake Festival 2014 will be inaugurated by Aruna Vasudev, Film Historian. She is the Founder-President of Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema, Founder-Director of Osian’s-Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema, Founder-Editor of Cinemaya, The Asian Film Quarterly and Trustee of the Forum for Art Beyond Borders. She has been a jury member at Cannes, Locarno, Thessaloniki, Singapore, Fajr, Karlovy and Istanbul, among others and conferred with France’s top cultural award, the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.

Talk About The Art

After each film screening, we will sit together for an intensive session and focus on the cinematic style and story telling technique of the film-maker.

Film-maker Evenings

Meet Fernand Melgar, Swiss film-maker, director of ‘Special Flight’ and Aija Berzina, Latvian producer of ‘Documentarian’. Apart from the post-screening sessions, both will be present for an extended evening to talk about their struggles, fond experiences & memories, the future of the documentary film-making market as they see it, their ups & downs and how they cope with it.

The Doc Debates

With a focus on ‘Documentarian’, together, we will all explore the constraints of doc film-making as it was, is and may be in the future – including all our worries about intrusions into private spaces.

Cultural Treat

Bharatnatyam dancer, Sneha Chakradhar and Sufi singer, Dhruv Sangari will surprise us with something new together – and hopefully, jazz guitarist, Nishad Pandey, can join them as well.

Special Space

There will be a special space with screening facility for film-makers to share their own work with whomever they wish. Conditions apply! This can be done only outside the regular screening schedule.
